Position Title: Network & Infrastructure Consultant
Location: Hybrid (sites near Wetaskiwin, AB)
Type: Contract – Initial Term: 6 Months

The Position:

Our client is seeking an experienced Network & Infrastructure Consultant to lead modernization initiatives across a multi-site environment. You will serve as the technical lead for network security, endpoint management, and unified communications projects, ensuring solutions are designed, implemented, and transitioned seamlessly. Responsibilities include migration from Cisco Meraki MX firewalls to Fortinet FortiGate, VLAN-based segmentation, FortiSASE VPN deployment, Microsoft Intune optimization, and Cisco VoIP upgrade coordination.

What You'll Do:

• Lead migration from Cisco Meraki MX firewalls to FortiGate, including firewall policies, NAT, and VPN optimization.
• Design and implement VLAN-based network segmentation and switching infrastructure upgrades.
• Deploy and configure FortiSASE Remote Access VPN for secure remote connectivity.
• Assess and complete Microsoft Intune implementation: device enrolment, configuration profiles, compliance/security policies.
• Provide technical support for Cisco VoIP / Unified Communications upgrade, ensuring QoS, VLAN readiness, and security alignment.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery and knowledge transfer.

Mandatories:

• 5–8+ years in IT infrastructure/Systems Administration (education or public sector multi-site experience an asset).
• Proven experience migrating Cisco Meraki MX firewalls to FortiGate.
• Hands-on expertise with Fortinet solutions, VLAN segmentation, firewall rules, NAT, and VPNs.
• Strong Microsoft Intune administration across Windows/iOS/Android.
• Familiarity with Cisco VoIP systems and network readiness for UC deployments.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.
• Occasional travel to client sites, so must possess valid Drivers License.
• Nice-to-Haves include: Fortinet NSE, Cisco Meraki, Microsoft Intune/Azure, CCNA/CCNP certifications;  experience with Zero Trust, SASE architecture, and phased enterprise migrations; and exposure to Netskope or similar SWG/CASB solutions.
